US Transport Ship that Carried the War Dead from Belgium after World War II
Launched July 9, 1945, and sank while being towed in January 29, 1948. During its lifetime, it carried the remains of Cpl. Earl Pochert after his death during the war.

“SS Joseph V. Connolly was a US Liberty Ship type Z-EC2-S-C5 that caught fire on the 12th January 1948 when on route from New York for Antwerp with a cargo of coffins. She caught fire and subsequently sank while in tow on the 29th January 1948.” 1
